Personality answers:
Who in your character's canon influenced the most growth in your character? What do they think about this character?
There are two that have definitely shaped him into who he is. The first being his father. Vil was raised solely by his father, who is also an actor, and one of some renown. Vil was toted around with his father while he worked and talks very fondly of how he grew up, between the traveling and encountering so many different people, to things like playing tag with his dad between filming. His father is also responsible for a lot of Vil's interests, such as makeup. The first time Vil encountered costume makeup, was when his father was doing a scene where he was injured, Vil, being a a small child, immediately started crying thinking his father was ACTUALLY injured. Upon having that mishap cleared up, it hit Vil the potential makeup has, and he started getting interested in it as a form of self expression. His father cultivated the interest by starting him up on his homebrew makeup when he was still young. Vil has nothing but respect and adoration for his father, and ultimately went into acting to be like him.
The second person is Neige LeBlanque, Vil's rival in acting. Where Vil has a beautiful and untouchable air about him, Neige is a sweet and warm boy, with a cute face. Neige's ability to look like a normal but endearing person, along with his warm and friendly demeanor, landed him the hero or main character role more often than not due to being relatable to an audience. While Vil being describe as having an "ethereal beauty" was not relatable at all and was always cast as a villain or bully. Vil's obsession with beauty and perfection stemmed from this, as he always thought if he made himself more beautiful, more perfect, then one day he'd get to be the hero. Not surprising that sort of thing does a number on your head when you're a child, but given the toxic nature of the industry, Vil didn't even realize it was eating at him over the years. It's driven Vil's obsession for perfections and also served to fuel his competativeness, and ultimately can bring out the worst in him. Despite the fact that Neige himself is a good person that thinks so very highly of Vil... oblivious to the fact that Vil hates him with the passion of a thousand suns.
What does your character think about physical appearances? Are they the sort to meticulously primp themselves, or could they not care less?
Vil has an almost obsessive focus on beauty, however, with it playing such a huge role in his career, it's understandable. Vil is, unsurprisingly, incredibly vain, and has a whole beauty regime that he will follow come hell or high water. He's got a skincare routine, and exercise routine, a haircare routine, a makeup routine, and he follows it all religiously everyday. To him, one's appearance tells a lot about who you are, and its a form of self expression. It's why he works to appear "perfect" in every aspect of his life, oftentimes he cares more about how he looks doing something than how well he actually does at it. That said, he will not half ass what he's doing by any stretch. For example, in a cooking class, he records himself to see how he holds himself while cooking, as he's going to be a guest star on a cooking show, and as soon as the task is done he rushes to his phone to watch and critique himself (ignoring the chef's words to him). However, at the same time, when it's pointed out one of the cake layers is slightly burned, and that one could just hide it under frosting, he refuses and commits to making the whole thing again to ensure it's perfect.
What would your character say is their best trait? What is truly their best trait?
Vil would easily say his beauty, it's what he's spent his whole life cultivating. Of course for him, Beauty isn't two dimensional, it also encompasses how one acts, and how valuable one is as a person. So he also values in intelligence and personality as well as his appearance. While this isn't wrong, I believe his best trait goes beyond that. Vil is actually a person that cares deeply for others. He's certainly got his barbs (he's kind of a huge bitch), and he definitely budgets his mental bandwidth so he's not going to wear himself out just helping everyone he sees, but if someone comes to him genuinely looking to "better themselves" in the same way he does for himself, he almost always takes them under his wing. Even when not asked directly, he can be seen subtly nudging someone painfully introverted into taking the first step to his dream. It may not seem like a huge thing to have someone being a decent caring person, but in a school full of little shitheads, he's actually very unique in that he does seems to genuinely want to see others be their best selves.
What would be your character's lowest, darkest moment they've lived through? How did they respond to their troubles and face their demons?
Vil's lowest point would be the breakdown he had just before he overblots (more on overblot in the powers section). In the Twisted Wonderland's version of an inter-school American Idol competition, Vil and some classmates are pitted against Neige, as a 3rd year it's essentially Vil's last chance to beat Neige in a competition setting, and Vil is seen getting incredibly agitated and stressed leading up to the event. While the audience got a preview of each performance, starting with Vil's, there was a brief moment where, for the first time, Vil was beating Neige. The internet was buzzing with Vil. He was finally winning against Neige. However, that quickly changes after Neige's performance, and Vil snaps. Unable to cope with losing that brief moment, he slips off to poison Neige in desperation. Luckily he's caught and stopped before doing anything, and Neige is none the wiser. However, upon being stopped and realizing what he almost did, he's overcome by guilt and the realization that he is the ugly creature that he spent his whole life trying to prove that he wasn't. Every makeup, exercise, diet, and skincare routine didn't mean anything because he was able to become such an ugly monster. It was his guilt over his actions that pushed him to overblot, rather than facing his loss, and even once freed from his overblot, his guilt and self loathing remained, but he accepted it for what it was- a part of himself. An ugly part of himself that he hated, but a part of himself all the same. He's learned to carry it with him, and readjusted his goals after accepting that he was never going to be a hero. He also tried to do right by those that helped him break from his overblot, and apologized (which is almost unheard of at this school). Ultimately, he was very mature about it.

Powers/Abilities:
*A little caveat that a lot of these spells look incredibly overpowered, but the game does make it believably limited that "this is teenager level magic", so there are limitations in regards to a mage's ability to focus, or the spells themselves lack power behind them. Vil admits himself that he is not a very powerful mage due to a lack of training going up, but he's got large magical reserves. So his strength as a mage is his tenacity, he can continue casting spells for a long time, but his spells are relatively weak.
Blot/Overblotting: the toxic byproduct that comes with casting magic. Every spell accumulates some of this substance, the more exertion the spell requires, the more it generates. Magestones are able to filter this and absorb blot in place of the caster for a time, but even these magestones can become “full” which will cause the caster to take the full brunt of their blot. Extreme emotional distress can exacerbate blot generation, and the more blot that accumulates in the mage specifically makes the negative mental state even worse. using too much magic while emotionally distraught can cause an overblot, where a mage loses control to their facilities, and they generate a parasitic entity known as a "phantom" that feeds on their magic and negative emotions. The Phantom seeks to perpetuate the worst emotions of the host for feeding, aiming to drain them to retain its physical form after the death of the host. To stop an overblot the hose needs to either be knocked out (can't have feelings if you're unconscious) Or the phantom and host need to be separated far enough that the phantom cannot feed off the host.
Broom flying: What magic school wouldn't have flying on a broomstick??? Vil can indeed do this, but it's actually one of his worse subjects (presumably due to his fear of falling). So he can get from point A to point B, but he's not going to be doing any tricks.
Practical magic: Things like cleaning up ones room with magic, changing the color of fabric, making Ikea furniture assemble itself- it's a very broad category, but I tend to consider it for tasks that can otherwise be done by hand.
Magical Girl Outfit Change: Probably belongs in practical magic, but mages can change their clothes with magic, or it seems to be more like a summoning of the clothes? Limitations are that the clothes DO have to actually exist, and the mage needs to know roughly their location.
Elemental Magic: ice, water, wind, flora, electricity, void, and fire are all elements that can be thrown around at will. Given no one is sent to the infirmary with 3rd degree burns due to fireball, I would put offensive output roughly on par with a fist fight on average. Vil is known to lack offensive magical power as well, with flora being his specialty magic.
Repairing magic: Can fix broken objects within reason. Repairing a broken vase or glasses is an easy feat, but when fixing complex objects like a computer that caught fire, the results would likely only be cosmetic unless the mage has an understanding of technology.
Barrier Magic: Mages can generate a shield to fend off attacks, however this seems to be one of their most potentially power draining spells. Magic must be put into the barrier equal to the attack being used against it, so with a strong enough attack the mage can be instantly drained.
Healing: What it says on the tin. Mages can do a decent upfront heal, or a heal that lasts over time. They won't be fixing any grievous injuries, at most they could feasibly stabilize someone enough to be moved.
Enchantment: The magic involving magic objects complete an automated task, such as dishes washing themselves, brooms fetching water in buckets, sewing materials doing some basic sewing. It is, however, considered very advanced magic, so anything beyond simple tasks like this is considered risky, and it also requires complex rituals to set up. Vil won't go farther than magical dish duty, and sewing materials that can do basic tasks.
Speaking to Animals: Animal Languages are basically the "foreign Language" course at NRC, and each species of animal has the own "language" with some overlap. For example, if one can speak mole, they will be able to communicate with a hedgehog, but it'll be a bit tricky. We don't exactly see what languages students outside of cat, mole, and presumably small bird/squirrel? I plan to play it as one would a high school language class, where he can ask and communicate some basics, but he's far from fluent.
Potionology/Alchemy: Making potions are an area where Vil REALLY shines. Vil has actually had an interest in chemistry from a young age, and started brewing his own make-up and potions with help and guidance from his father. While he generally focuses on health, he's also incredibly adept at brewing poisons as well (one person's poison is another's medicine). In fact, one of the criteria for being the housewarden of Pomefiore is brewing the most deadly poison (they don't actually USE it though, he has never successfully killed any real people). So in this aspect I let him go a little more ham, he can likely do simple potions for healing and treating various injuries (salves for burns, etc), and potions that I would allow to function as a singular spell (making the ground icy), potions that exist in real life (Magical Molotov Cocktail), and in a rare occasion a very advanced potion such as one that changes appearance (requires a complex ritual and is incredibly painful and just a dangerous spell over all- so it's a spell he's avoid).
Signature Spell- Fairest One of All: This spell is what actually makes Vil incredibly formidable and dangerous. It allows Vil to place a curse or blessing on an object he touches. Blessings and curses USUALLY require complex rituals and materials, but he can do it with a touch and an incantation. Basically he can place a set of "rules" or an 'effect" on an object or person. For example, he has plased a curse on a box of sweets that anyone trying to sneak one past 8pm becomes paralyzed until morning or until he releases them. Another example would be he one time changed the contents of a bottle from hand lotion to a highly corrosive acid to melt a doorknob. It's got a VERY broad usage, but comes with a few caveats: he has to be incredibly careful with phrasing, because his curses are strong enough that he cannot break them once they are set. So the curse or blessing must be short, sweet, clear, and with a few options to break it if need be. Another is that while blessings and curses can be put on people, it can't be used as a form of mind control or or truth compulsion. He's never seen really using his ability on people beyond trying to incapacitate them, so there will not likely be any sleeping beauty-eque mishaps. In general, I have him mostly use this for the sake of convenience and security (no one getting into his potion cabinet for example).

Player Goals: With Ciel being a self-centered little shit with no special powers whatsoever, and with me unable to really get Riddle's voice, I'm switching him out for Vil. So the goals are similar in that I want to poke at his issues with a stick, while also have someone that can get out and interact with people for the sake of helping. Also I have a lot of ideas re: monsterification, so it'll be nice not having TWO spectrals and getting some variety.
Soul Choice: Aves!
